Planetary Day
The classical planet that rules the day of the week — the Sun rules Sunday, the Moon Monday, Mars Tuesday, Mercury Wednesday, Jupiter Thursday, Venus Friday, Saturn Saturday. This is the ancient tradition the weekday names themselves come from. Since the NFL plays mostly on Sundays, the Sun’s day holds the overwhelming majority of games; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday have only a handful each.
